Completed another full round of pictures for the TLS auction. It’s fun to take pictures of the kids – you can really capture who they are and what they are about if you’re patient enough to let them forget they are being photographed.

This is outside the store. The line you see on the right is for folks that did NOT reserve. So they are hoping for first come first serve at 3pm… I waited in the reserve line for an hour and a half to get here… and I am in the reserved line!

Lynne, a friend from an old job, needed a couple pictures of her kids. I love doing these impromptu types of things. I had a trunk full of equipment and I left it all in the car – just a 70-200, 105mm, 24-120mm and a single on camera sb-800 is what I used. Love the set given the minimal setup. More here.

The Royal Feast

I am obsessed with the Nikon D3s

I was slow to adopt digital. I didn’t have my own digital camera until the Nikon D70. Yes – before that I had used pool equipment and such but the D70 is the first camera that made me go – dang – I should spend money on a digital and this is cheap for the benefits (i.e. good value).

Then I switched entirely to digital with the release of the D2x. Since then the D3 was somewhat interesting but I was so happy with the D2x I didn’t think it brought enough value to the table and I didn’t need the D3x high resolution.

Now with the release of the D3s I don’t know how to stop myself thinking about it – it has everything I want. High ISO (12,800 and it’s max is 102,400), movie (720p is more than fine for me), self cleaning sensor (i can hope it works) and full frame sensor (woo hoo – I can choose DX if I felt like it – likely never again .

I can’t get it soon enough. I want it. Bad.
