Bought a new machine...

Out with the old:

Well... I finally got sick of using my Compaq EVO N610c Laptop to edit images... it was just too slow of a process. It's been a great machine and it will continue to be - but just not for editing LARGE tiff files pumped out by the Nikon Coolscan V ED.

So I went to newegg and ordered myself a brand spanking new machine. I went for as high end as I could with a goal of spending less than $2500.

In with the new:

I got a K8NE-Deluxe Socket 754 MB from ASUS, AMD Athalon 64 3400+, ASUS V9999UL Ultra Deluxe which is a actually a NVidia GeForce 6800 w/256MB DDR3 RAM. I added 1.5Gb of DDR ECC RAM, 1.8 Terrabytes of storage using mostly 200GB Seagate silent drives, put in a 560W Thermaltake Silent PurePower 560W Power Supply for AMD, and wrap it all with a Thermaltake Black Highest Xaser III Super Tower.

This will certainly allow me to manipulate larger files with less of my time dedicated to waiting on the machine and the disk transfer speeed, etc.

Flu sucks

First Greg had it. Now I have it.

I've been out of work since Tuesday and likely won't return till next Thursday.

These are from the 1991 US Olympic Festival in LA.

Stupid Interviewer Tricks

I've seen this happen - people who wish to prove they are smart as an interviewer try to intentially mess up a candidate. These people should be taken out back and beat about the head. I usually try to do everything I can to ensure a candidate understands the bounds of a question and I remind them to ask me clarifying questions.

It's just frustrating to see this happen... especially in an interview loop... like people interviewing don't have enough stress.

Smattering of old images

Put a couple old images that I digitized from film out at:

I'll be adding a bunch of images over the next couple of weeks - a lot of these images might dissappear and reappear as I move some stuff around.

the book of -ken-

the book of -ken-

Ken is an old timer on the Ferrari List. He has a lot of amusing rants. I think of him as someone that could (with a few more new england prep school reading list refferences, a thesaurus, and some more refferences to ancient civilizations) write for Dennis Miller.

Funny guy - and a very good eye guy if you need Lasik.
